Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Manager
Location: San Francisco (Hybrid)
Salary: $93K – $158K + Equity Opportunities

About Our Client

Our client is on a mission to revolutionise internet infrastructure, transforming it into a true utility. Their innovative product connects and empowers a network of stakeholders, including customers, ISPs, partners, and technicians.
Every utility begins with an installation and that’s where this role comes in. The Technician Operations Team forms the live backbone of our client’s deployment engine, ensuring the delivery of critical infrastructure that is on time, to standard, and frictionless for both partners and customers.

The Role

As a Technical Project Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing our client’s network infrastructure to life. During installation, the network is at its most vulnerable, and your expertise ensures it’s built to perform and endure.
You’ll work closely with field technicians, providing real-time support, troubleshooting technical issues, and creating systems and tools that make installations seamless. Ultimately, you’ll ensure the product performs where it matters most: in the field.

What Success Looks Like ?
  • Your impact will be visible across every installation, shaping the technician experience and driving the operational scale needed to achieve utility-level reliability. Within your first six months, you’ll:
  • Keep projects on track: Deliver over 90% of installations on time through proactive, live technician support and issue resolution.
  • Raise quality standards: Reduce rework rates to below 5% and ensure full compliance with installation standards and validation checks.
  • Accelerate installation processes: Partner with Operations Engineering to implement automated tooling that reduces install validation time by 30%.
Key Responsibilities

Day-to-day, you’ll be at the heart of live operations. A typical week may include:

  • Running live installation support shifts, guiding technicians through steps, answering questions, and escalating blockers when needed.
  • Troubleshooting networking and hardware issues in real time, documenting root causes, and driving permanent fixes.
  • Tracking progress across active installs, keeping project managers and internal teams updated.
  • Identifying recurring issues and collaborating with Operations Engineering to design new playbooks, tools, or process improvements.
  • Turning technician feedback into actionable product improvements, ensuring hardware and software are optimised for field use.
Career Progression

By your second year, you could be:
  • Designing automated validation tools that eliminate manual installation steps.
  • Leading technician onboarding programmes that reduce ramp-up time by 50%.
  • Driving product and process innovations that redefine how installations are executed across the industry.
  • Your work will directly shape how our client scales installation quality and speed globally.

About You

You thrive in fast-paced, problem-solving environments and bring clarity to complexity. You’re an effective communicator, capable of bridging technical and operational teams, and you view every challenge as an opportunity to optimise and improve systems.

You’ll bring:
  • Hands-on experience in networking, field operations, or technical support.
  • Strong real-time troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent documentation habits and a builder’s mindset focused on scalable improvement.
