About the job Head of Mobile Engineering

Our client is looking for a full time Head of Mobile Engineering who will oversee the development of the companies Android & iOS apps, as well as a mobile SDK consumed by our Nimbus clients.

Your responsibilities will be to lead a team of talented engineers developing mobile applications that will be used by millions of people around the world. You will provide strategic technical direction, execute a product roadmap, and oversee the QA process for cross platform mobile applications and SDKs. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and interpersonal skills and would enjoy working as part of a group of passionate technologists to deliver quality products. You will be involved in all aspects of the project life cycle and will work closely with the design team to concept creative solutions to product features.

The role requires a mix of hands on application development coding skills along with comprehensive technical knowledge of the components of large scale mobile applications, combined with the ability to lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of technologists with varying levels of experience. You should be familiar with modern software development methodologies, and be able to dive deep and rapidly iterate on ideas despite ambiguity. The team will look to you to demonstrate a unique blend of strong leadership and an in depth engineering skillset with modern mobile application development technologies.

Lead the design, development, QA, and ongoing maintenance of applications and SDKs
Provide hands on technical and systems architecture design and development and QA
Work closely with various teams, internal stakeholders, and third party partners on complex projects ensuring development is aligned with our technical strategy and roadmap
Develop a vision for mobile application development within the business and execute your plans to turn that vision into a reality
Create and foster collaborative relationships with Product, Design, Ad Operations, Sales and Customer Success teams, supporting them to ensure that products are correctly defined, documented, tested, and released
Assess existing mobile application development processes, tools, metrics, and testing frameworks; adopt what works; and change what does not
Continuous improvement of our mobile software development and delivery practices
Evaluation and introduction of new technologies and development practices
Coordinate the activities of engineers, with those of other stakeholders

Minimum of 5 years of cross platform mobile engineering experience
Minimum of 2 years in a leadership, mentor, or management role
Technical proficiency in iOS/Android, with demonstrated hands on work experience developing both iOS and Android mobile applications at scale
Experience developing for mobile platforms mobile web based and native iOS and Android applications or mobile frameworks, including building and managing APIs for native mobile applications
Experience developing, shipping, and supporting mobile SDKs consumed by external clients
Familiarity with common Quality Assurance and Quality Engineering practices
Experience working cross functionally with internal and external stakeholders
Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and resolving complex technical problems
Excellent communication skills and ability to explain complex technical issues to a non technical audience in a clear, concise, and effective manner
Knowledge of common network protocols (HTTP/HTTPS) and the use of REST APIs
