Quant Systems: Build and Release Engineer

OVERVIEW
Our Client seeks a DevOps engineer with impressive Linux skills, along with an interest in and experience with NixOS and/or the Nix package manager, to join their Quant Systems team in New York. Quant Systems is a global team that designs and maintains the firms largest compute infrastructure which includes operating system platforms, software development tooling, high-performance computing, networking, and storage for research and trading. This individual will work with front office developers and Systems engineers in support of build and release engineering efforts in an inclusive, collaborative, and engaging working environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO DAY-TO-DAY
The engineer will work with New York-based staff to develop applications using Nix. Additional responsibilities will include supporting the firms global production infrastructure and working on a wide variety of technology initiatives in a distributed computing environment.

WHO THEY'RE LOOKING FOR

• Candidates will preferably have a degree in computer science (or another related technical discipline); excellent understanding of Linux and networking fundamentals; extensive experience with Nix/NixOS and the Nix Packages collection (Nixpkgs), and excellent programming/scripting skills.
• Previous experience with the design and end-to-end implementation of performant, reliable, and secure infrastructure systems is essential, as are troubleshooting capabilities and experience with diagnostic/tracing tools.
• Familiarity with Puppet and other Linux distributions is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, as are superb organizational and time management abilities.
