The Role
As a first front-end-focused engineer, you will be responsible for taking designs from the design team and bringing them to life in React, filling in gaps with your own UI intuitions.
They care deeply about the sleekness and usability of their web portal -- that's one of the key ways they stand out against the bigger banks with travel rewards. After all, one of the reasons that traditional credit card rewards are so hard to maximise and use properly is a convoluted user interface.
They want to deliver a travel rewards credit card experience that is intuitive and actually helpful to the user so they never have to worry about whether they're getting the best points deal.
Your role will require you to:
Collaborate with designers & engineers to scope out features and product direction
Be responsible for setting the technical direction as well as for planning deliverables
Participate in code and design reviews to ensure quality and good architecture
Write maintainable, clear, well-architected code, tests, and documentation
Set architecture standards and patterns for their frontend which will be adopted by others as they scale
Make direct technical contributions as well as provide guidance to team members
Qualifications
At least one year of experience building production-grade software in react
2+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably at a startup or big tech company
Desire to join a small but mighty team that's ready to take on this multi-trillion-dollar market by storm
Intrinsic motivation and the drive to solve difficult problems without guidance
Ability to ruthlessly prioritise in a chaotic and ambiguous environment
An open and growth mindset when giving and receiving feedback
Nice to Haves
A love of travel (hacking) and credit card rewards
Experience leading engineering teams and setting design standards and patterns in code
Experience with Redux, Django, Python, Expo Go, and Postgres
Experience writing code in a heavily regulated industry like financial services
